About Meruthula

Meruthula Jeevananthan is an articling student with Drury. Her background includes legal research, drafting, client intake, court appearances and litigation support developed through law-school clinic work, criminal-law placements and post-graduate legal-assistant roles.

Meruthula earned her Juris Doctor from the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law at Lakehead University. During law school, she worked with Lakehead University Community Legal Services, where she conducted client intakes, attended court, completed research and assisted with public legal education. She also served as a Dean’s Fellow in Indigenous law and constitutional law.

Her legal experience includes placements and articling work in criminal practice, where she reviewed disclosure, drafted applications and affidavits, coordinated court dates and pre-trial steps, met with clients and assisted counsel at trials. She has also worked as a legal assistant in private practice.

Meruthula’s academic and research experience includes work relating to the revitalization of Anishinaabe legal orders and their interaction with the Canadian justice system. She is fluent in English and Tamil.
